“… What is an author's doll? Expensive toy? A piece of interior? A modern form of art and self-expression? .. Everyone sees in it something of their own.
⠀
It seems to me that the author's doll is a kind of tuning fork. Tuning fork for the soul of the Spectator. Each doll is initially filled with certain emotions and energy. Therefore, it sounds and resonates only if the attitude and internal vibrations of the author and the viewer coincide. If the doll does not touch you, this does not mean that the doll is not good or empty, it just is intended for someone else.
⠀
My acquaintance with the author's doll took place almost 6 years ago at a lesson in applied art at an evening art school. I came to class after a long break, and saw that everyone was making dolls - the wire frame was already ready and the heads were molded ... I remember well my feeling - I literally shook with impatience and desire to try too. I caught up with the group and overtook it, the doll was made by the first (yes, it seems, and the only one), and since then I continue to sculpt.
⠀
I have no professional art education, although, both in childhood and as an adult, I enjoyed studying in various art circles and studios. My profession is quite ordinary - an economist.
⠀
Apart from that memorable first and practically the only lesson, I am self-taught in puppetry. For 4 years she sculpted herself, looking for information on the Internet, reinventing the wheel and stuffing bumps. But in the last year, with great desire and gratitude, I have been studying at face-to-face master classes of those Masters whose works have always been a standard for me, the aesthetics of whose dolls are close and understandable to me.
⠀
From the very beginning, Ladall was my main material. Now I sometimes use livingdoll, fluo. Each material is good and unique in its own way: I love Ladall for the warmth and ease of working with it, livingdoll - for the possibility of a more detailed study, Fluo for the silky surface ...
In painting and in the image in general, I prefer restraint and simplicity, and therefore my dolls are dull and discreet, almost monochrome. But I also want to try more complex artistic options. I feel there is still a lot to learn!
⠀
My dolls for me are an opportunity to embody the intangible in the tangible, to convey to the viewer in plastic, in color and in the form some mood or inner state ... In my opinion, emotions and feelings are the essence of the author's doll. Therefore, I especially value the diploma of the winner of the contest "Doll of the Year 2015" from the magazine "Puppet Master" in the nomination "FEELING".
⠀
I am always very happy to meet the Spectator, because if someone likes my dolls, it means that we have something in common, a certain consonance of the inner state and attitude, and it is so wonderful to meet a kindred spirit in our huge world!
⠀
I often heard that designer dolls (be it a clay doll or even a teddy bear, sewn according to an author's pattern) always look like their creators. Agree. But why? We do not sculpt our self-portrait. Maybe dolls are our reflection? Or maybe this is a reflection of how we want to see ourselves? I don’t know ... I have enough time ahead to understand this riddle, because the journey to the world of dolls can last a lifetime! ”
