Recognizable style
Recognizable style, what is it?
I often ask myself - why are designer dolls born? Of course, not from boredom and from “nothing to do”, as people far from the puppet world say ...
It seems to me that dolls are, first of all, an outpouring of emotions. When it is difficult to say, but something inside you persistently wants to be heard and seen. This is the need of the soul.
When creating dolls, we try to express the intangible (mood, inner impulse, thought) in the material (in form, color, texture) ...
And when our creation stops the Spectator's gaze, touches some strings in his soul, encourages to feel and reflect - this is the greatest reward and joy!
There is a wonderful phrase “Each doll has its own viewer”.
Agree! I think a designer doll is a tuning fork. It sounds and resonates only if the perception of the world and the inner vibrations of the author and the viewer coincide. But in order to meet its spectator, the doll must have an individuality, a kind of SPECIALTY that will allow it not to get lost “in the crowd”, but to be remembered, to touch the soul and warm the heart.
Own handwriting, personal recognition, author's individuality ... or rather "author's style" - this is what most puppeteer authors dream of coming to.
What is an author's handwriting?
I have not found an interpretation of this concept in any dictionary, but there is a lot of reasoning on this topic! In general, the author's handwriting, style can be called the individual author's manner, which is felt by the viewer in all the works of one author. This individuality and recognition is not a single characteristic trait, but a combination of many components. It can be a special color palette, and a single emotional message, and anatomical stylization, and a characteristic composition structure, and the use of certain artistic techniques ...
As for me personally, I have the deepest respect and admiration for puppeteer artists, who in their work can create completely different characters - different in energy, style and manner of execution.
But nevertheless, dolls made in a pronounced recognizable author's style are closer to me. When, looking at it, you immediately understand whose Creation it is. When you see not only the history of the doll itself, but also feel its Creator! This is exactly what makes the world of designer dolls so diverse, beautiful and unique. After all, here everyone will find something to their liking and for their soul.
The miracle of the recognizable author's style also lies in the fact that everyone can define it for himself in a few words.
For me, for example:
The incredible dolls of Natalia Lopusova-Tomskaya are Harmony and serene sophistication ...
The mischievous works of Olga Yegupets are sparkling and charming slyness ...
The stunning creations of Alisa Filippova are airiness and tremulous beauty...
The amazing world of the Namdakov family is poetry and fullness ...
The birth of an author's style is a very slow process. At the very beginning of your career, it is important not to succumb to the temptation to copy successful Masters whose dolls you like. This is the path "to nowhere" ...
As the French writer Romain Rolland said:
"In love, as in art, you do not need to say what others have said: you need to say what you feel; and the one who is in a hurry to speak when he has nothing to say yet runs the risk of never saying anything. "
Learn from the best, but go your own way. Intuitively, gradually, from doll to doll ... Believe in yourself, and you will succeed. And then your dolls will tell exactly your story! And the Spectator will be waiting for your dolls!
