STARLINGS UNDER A CLOUD
At the end of March, the ArtPRO Youth Art Gallery in St Petersburg opened the exhibition "Starlings under a cloud".
The exhibition features the work of two authors Darina Prohoruk-Smirnova (St Petersburg) and Maria Razumovskaya (Pskov).
Darina does wood painting. The objects of her work are old wooden things. Chairs, window frames, crèches and sleds, in the hands of the young artist, open up from an unexpected angle and acquire a new sound.
What Maria creates cannot be called just toys and dolls. They are textile art objects. The author calls her works "Ragged Bestiary". Maria creates the patterns herself. The inspiration comes from fairy tales and folk folklore.
In their works, both authors rethink traditional folk art and give it a contemporary artistic sounding. In these works, we will not find direct references to folk art, but the inseparable link between contemporary art and indigenous traditions becomes evident.
Folk art is not a thing of the past. It can and does live with man, his everyday life and his everyday life.
The exhibition is called "starlings under a cloud". It sounds like a call and expectation of spring, a desire to bring colour, light and joy.
The success of any exhibition depends on the team working on it, as well as the venue.
"The starlings are in luck! The exhibition is housed in ArtPro, a beautiful young youth art gallery. The creative life is literally buzzing! Real professionals Anastasia Novopoltseva, Natalia Logvinova, Darya Lyasina, Svetlana Lipovka work here. For them, what they do is not a chore but the meaning of life.
Light, colour, joie de vivre and creativity - all this you can feel when you visit the exhibition.
INhe exhibition will run until 10 April 2022, at ArtPRO Youth Art Gallery (St Petersburg).
