At the beginning of March this year in the Small Exhibition Hall of the Stable Building of Kirov Central Park of Culture and Leisure (St. Petersburg). (St. Petersburg) opened an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Geli Pisareva "Dream in the Window".
The exhibition features wooden sculpture and paintings created by the artist over the last thirty years (from the 1990s to the present day).
Galina (Gela) Demyanovna Pisareva - Sculptor, painter, graphic artist, born in Leningrad in 1933. Survived the Siege of Leningrad. In 1955 graduated from the Leningrad Art School named after Serov (now St. Petersburg Art School. V.A. Serov (now St. Petersburg Art School named after N.K. Roerich). In 1961 graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after IE Repin. She is a member of the Union of Artists and a member of the independent non-profit Creative Association "Village of Artists".
Geli Pisareva's work is free, joyful and full of the colours of life. It harmoniously combines the knowledge and experience gained at the academic school with the spontaneity of naive folk art. That is why we are close and understand the figurative artistic language with which the story is told by the artist.
Geli Pisareva's world is full of warmth, care and love. Rural landscapes, rural life, scenes of work - everything speaks of the greatness and harmony of nature and man.
A woman-mother, the keeper of the home, a tireless worker, is at the centre of Gela Pisareva's paintings and sculptures. Together with the author, we give meaning to such important concepts as 'mother', 'family' and 'fatherland', we bring back what has been lost and tie 'knots of memory': who we are and why we live on earth.
Gela Pisareva is a unique and distinctive artist. At the age of 90, she continues to work and create new sculptures and paintings that are striking in their depth. Her works are in the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the Erarta Museum of Modern Art, in private collections in Russia and abroad.
The 'Dream in the Window' exhibition runs until 17 April 2022 in the Small Exhibition Hall of the Stable Building/Yelagin Palace/Yelagin. St.-Petersburg.
