Do you want to decorate your home with a unique work of art? Want to surprise your friends and family with an unusual gift? Paint the sea with epoxy resin using the Resin Art technique! It is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. The main thing is the desire to create and a little patience.
Creating an epoxy resin painting using the Resin Art technique:
Step 1: Preparing the work surface and materials
Find a place where you will work on the painting. Make sure the surface is clean and level. Cover the work area with newspaper or a disposable tablecloth to protect it from stains.
Gather all the necessary materials:
- Epoxy resin
- Hardener
- Dyes
- Wave maker additive
- Measuring cup or kitchen scales
- Construction hair dryer or gas torch
- Wooden tablet or plastic sheet
- Disposable 0.2 and 0.3 ml beakers and one large beaker
- Popsicle sticks
- Nitrile gloves
- Cocktail tubes
Step 2: Preparation of resin and hardener
Mix the resin and hardener in the correct proportion. This information is usually given on the resin pack. Stir the mixture thoroughly for several minutes until it becomes homogeneous and no traces of unmixed resin remain.
Step 3: Adding colours and additives to create waves
Add dyes of the desired colours to the mixture. Use both primary and secondary colours to create the desired effect.
Add a special additive to create waves. Follow the instructions on the packaging to determine the required amount of additive.
Step 4: Pouring the resin onto the work surface
Pour the resin mixture onto the work surface. The resin layer should be 1 to 1.5 centimetres thick. Spread the resin evenly over the surface using a popsicle stick.
Step 5: Creating Waves
Use a construction hair dryer or gas torch to create waves on the surface of the resin. Hold the hairdryer or torch away from the surface and move it in different directions.
Step 6: Drying
Allow the resin to dry for 24-48 hours. Drying time may vary depending on the resin used and the thickness of the coat.
Step 7: Finishing the job
Once the resin is completely dry, you can add additional decorative elements such as seashells, sand or starfish. You can also apply a protective layer of varnish to the surface of the resin to increase durability.
Now your Resin Art epoxy painting is ready!
Tips:
- You can use not only pigments but also other materials such as sand, shells, pebbles, etc. to create a picture of the sea.
- If you want to create a painting with a 3D effect, you can use different layers of resin. To do this, first pour one layer of resin onto the canvas and let it dry. Then pour a second layer of resin and add sand or other materials to it. Pour a third layer of resin over the clear resin to secure the sand and other materials.
- If you want to create a painting with waves, you can use a special resin pouring technique. To do this, take a canvas and draw waves on it with a pencil. Then pour the resin onto the canvas and direct a jet of air with a hairdryer onto the resin to create the waves.
