Burgarella dolls were born in 1926 in Italy, thanks to the amazing tandem of entrepreneur Gaspare Burgarella and talented artist Ferdinando Stracuzzi. The Burgarella factory was located in Rome and produced a limited number of unique and expensive dolls.
The distinctive feature of Burgarella dolls was their eyes. Ferdinando Stracuzzi, personally painted each doll, using nine shades of colours just for the eyes. This meticulous work gave the dolls a unique look, making them truly lifelike.
Another feature of the Burgarella dolls was the material from which they were made. It was a specially developed composite material characterised by lustre, density and smoothness. This material made it possible to create dolls with realistic proportions and even sex characteristics, which was quite unusual for the time.
Burgarella dolls quickly gained popularity not only in Italy but also abroad. In 1929 they were imported to the USA, where they were also in great demand. However, the factory lasted only 9 years and subsequently closed, which made Burgarella dolls extremely rare and valuable. Today, finding such a doll is a great fortune for collectors and antique lovers.
Burgarella dolls are not just toys. They are works that embody the talent and skill of their creators.
