Carmen Lozar resides in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, where she not only creates her amazing work, but also shares her skills with students at Illinois Wesleyan University as an art faculty member.
Carmen Lozar began her journey in the art world with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crafts from the University of Illinois in 1999. Her pursuit of excellence and desire to further her knowledge led her to the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, where she received her Master of Fine Arts in 2003. These years of study provided the foundation for her future accomplishments and allowed her to develop a unique style and technique for working with glass.
Carmen Lozar is not only a talented artist, but also an accomplished educator. She has taught at prestigious institutions such as Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Craft, Pittsburgh Glass School, Appalachian Craft Centre and the Chrysler Museum. In 2016, she shared her expertise in Istanbul, Turkey, where she worked in a glass kiln. Her teaching encompasses a wide range of glass techniques and methods, making her lessons valuable to students from around the world.
Carmen Lozar's sculptures are included in many prestigious collections such as the Bergstrom Mahler Museum in Wisconsin and the Museum of Art and Design in New York. Her art has been recognised internationally and she is a frequent speaker at various conferences and symposia. In 2008, she was a keynote speaker and demonstrator at the International Flameworking Conference in Salem, New Jersey. In autumn 2016, Carmen Lozar travelled to New Zealand to speak at the New Zealand Society of Glass Artists conference where her work was admired and admired.

The sculpture I create in glass is meant to inspire and provoke the imagination. Telling stories has always been my main goal. Some narratives are sad, funny or thoughtful, but my work is always about celebrating life.
