We present you the secrets of the process of creating an author's doll from the master Lu Ann.
Hair implantation when creating an author's portrait doll is a labour-intensive but very spectacular process. It allows you to achieve an incredibly realistic look of the finished work.
Both natural human hair and animal hair can be used for hair implantation. The main thing is that they must be natural.
Bake the doll with implanted hair at a temperature of 115-130 degrees, as indicated on the polymer clay package. The hair does not burn at this temperature, and it stays in place after baking.
To insert the hair, you will need a bead needle with a broken off ear. The ear must be broken off with pliers so that a fork is formed. The hairs are caught on this fork and driven into the plastic layer to a depth of at least 5 mm.
After implantation, the hair must be corrected and pressed against the surface of the head with a stack. This is to prevent the hair from sticking to the surface and sticking out in different directions.
The hair should be implanted at right angles to the surface of the head. In this way, it will look more natural. Hair grows less frequently and differently on the temples and the contour of the forehead than on other parts of the head. This must be taken into account when implanting hair.
Take two or three hairs for implantation. In a healthy person, two or three hairs grow from one bulb.
The spacing between the implanted hairs depends on the size of the doll. For a 100 cm doll, the spacing should be about 1 mm.
Hair implantation into a portrait doll is a long and painstaking process, but the result is worth it. A doll with implanted hair looks very realistic and spectacular.
