Textile sculptures. A symbol of the coming year 2023 from Mister Finch

New Year, what kind of New Year will you be? We all believe it will be happy, and also fabulous and magical, like the textile sculptures of a rabbit - the symbol of the coming year 2023 by Mister Finch.
Mister Finch, who creates flora and fauna inspired by nature and folklore, lives in a poetic, magical world:
"People have always been looking for magic, looking up at the stars and making wishes. Yes, I think we need that more than ever. Some of us need something else to hold on to, something that can't be explained, that evokes wonder, that might be real, might exist. The world is a fast and loud place, and believing in something beautiful can soften the boundaries."
Most of Mister Finch's work is not edgy or challenging - the soft sculptures are created from new and salvaged cotton, velvet, pieces of silk. While others are hand sewn - his insects, spider and bird figures, for example - from new and vintage scraps of fabric, plastic, paper, wire, artificial flower petals, clay, floral tape and found objects.
Although the idea of soft sculpture was explored in the late 50s and 60s by Claes Oldenburg, you won't find anything even remotely everyday in the eccentric, slightly melancholic and romantic universe of Mister Finch.
