Every time, starting to create a new doll, I face the most important task - to embody this or that image in such a way as to convey the character and spirit of not only the character, but also the era to which he or she belongs. To do this, I try to study the subject of the costume as deeply as possible. First, it’s a terribly interesting and truly worthwhile challenge. Secondly, I want to get into the little things as much as possible, which solve the main problem.

Carefree rococo

At the moment, I decided to plunge into the fashion of the Rococo style, the fashion of the last carefree years of the aristocracy of all of Europe. At that time, both men and women had to look as young as possible. Therefore, men did not wear beards and mustaches, whitened and blushed their faces and wore wigs with hair tied up in small tails on their heads. A graceful silhouette and sophisticated manners are considered the ideal of Rococo. Movement, gait were developed under the guidance of teachers of "good manners".

The Rococo style is distinguished by graceful decorativeness, fragility, sensuality and some mannerism. He does not tolerate straight lines, which therefore take on curvature and smoothness.

Rococo man

I would like to pay special attention to the men's suit. It consisted of linen, an elongated vest, a caftan tailored to the figure, without a collar and culottes. Skinny knee-length pants (culottes) stretched in front in the form of a folding apron. Such trousers were worn over stockings and fastened under the knees with buckles. Culottes were the reference point in clothes, this is evidenced by the concept of "sansculottes" (not wearing culottes).

Indeed, culottes that covered the body from the waist to the knees and accentuated the calves, dressed in garter stockings, have been worn by men since the late Middle Ages. An attractive man had to have beautiful legs (thin ones had to use padded stockings or calf pads). The silhouette was accentuated by high heels and a buckle.

Following unpredictable fashion trends, culottes often changed shape: they were made from soft, then from more rigid materials, they were either lush, then tight, then paraded, then hidden, followed different styles, combined with stockings of different colors. But all this time they remained the privilege of the wealthy classes.
