Gogol and mysticism are always there.
Personal exhibition of Elena Babkina "GOGOL TYPES"
On May 13, in Ryazan, in the MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF YOUTH MOVEMENT, an exhibition of doll sculpture "GOGOL TYPES", created based on illustrations by Pyotr Mikhailovich Boklevsky, opened.
The exposition is timed to coincide with the 205th anniversary of the birthday of the illustrator who lived in the Ryazan province in 1816-1897.
We recall with pleasure the work of a worthy citizen of our homeland, who has done so much for world culture.
The idea of creating puppets, based on illustrations by Pyotr Mikhailovich, arose in 2019, declared by Russia as the year of theater. It was then that the desire arose to recreate in dolls the famous characters of Gogol, illustrated so skillfully and sharply.
For three years of work on the project, 16 characters appeared: Strawberry, Khlestakov, Chichikov, the mayor's family, Perth Petrovich Petukh, police chief, thoroughbred slender girl, Nastasya Petrovna Korobochka, Sobakevich, Plyushkin, bald Pimen, Bobchinsky and Dobchinsky, governor and ruler of the chancellery Ivan Petrovich ...
In a different composition, throughout the life of the project, the dolls were participants in regional and international exhibitions: "Holiday of Dolls" (Kremlin in Izmailovo, Moscow), personal exhibition of dolls and Teddy (together with L. Rogozina) within the framework of the XVII INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF DOLL THEATERS "Ryazan bride "(Ryazan State Regional Puppet Theater, Ryazan), Salon of Dolls (Tishinskaya Square-1, Moscow).
Today the project, in full force, can be seen in the MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF YOUTH MOVEMENT (Ryazan).
The exposition consists of three parts: a project of a doll sculpture, historical documents, materials concerning the personal life of Pyotr Mikhailovich Boklevsky and his family.
Gogol and mysticism are always there.
I am not always present in the exhibition hall, but there you will be met by professionals who love the history of their small homeland, collectors and keepers of the memory of famous fellow countrymen.
"Museum Fairies" will tell a lot of interesting things, including about a cozy old mansion in which the exhibition is now located, about its secrets and its own ghosts!
A little mysticism will not hurt, because we are talking about Gogol types! In the museum, within the framework of the cultural and educational program, lectures from the cycle "RYAZAN LAND IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL LIFE OF RUSSIA in the 18th-19th centuries."
Puppet sculptures come to life, begin to communicate with each other and with visitors to the exhibition.
Puppet exposition accompanied by audio recording of theatrical performance based on the works of N.V. Gogol. - "Dead Souls", "The Inspector General". This creates a special atmosphere in the exhibition hall and disposes to complete immersion in the work.
An invaluable contribution to the organization of the exhibition was made by the STATE ARCHIVE OF THE RYAZAN REGION (GARO).
Head of the Department of Publication and Scientific Use of Documents of the GARO Ekaterina Viktorovna Dvornikova is a true friend, partner and assistant of the MUSEUM. The exhibition took place thanks to the great interest of the residents of Ryazan, the well-coordinated work of the curators, partners of the museum, with my personal participation.
Mutual gifts, fresh flowers, media attention, sincere communication on the carved terrace, with tea and talks about art, with like-minded guests - what could be better?
I am filled with gratitude to everyone who was with me on this beautiful day, who shared both work and joy!
I invite you, my dear colleagues, all lovers of puppetry art, lovers of N.V. Gogol, admirers of P.M. Boklevsky to visit the exhibition.
Welcome!
The material was prepared by Elena Babkina.
