Vilma Goriunoviene - a talented master from Lithuania found her way to doll making almost by accident, but this hobby has become much more than just a hobby or a profession for her.
Vilma Goriunoviene's path to puppetry began about 20 years ago when she studied ceramics at the Academy of Art. It was there that she first tried working with plastic and clay. As her graduation work, Vilma Goriunoviene created a unique family of dolls moulded in clay. These dolls not only showcased her talent, but also brought her recognition at an international exhibition, where her work was awarded a diploma.
However, after graduating from the academy, Vilma Goriunoviene temporarily gave up her passion for dolls. She concentrated on raising her children and finding her place in life. It took 14 years before she returned to her true vocation.
After several job changes and her first attempts at decoupage and sewing, Vilma Goriunoviene remembered what she had learnt years ago. She decided to try her hand at making dolls again. This step was a turning point in her life. Now, for several years, she has been making dolls again, putting a part of her soul into each of them.
The dolls created by Vilma Goriunoviene impress with their fragile tenderness. Charming teenage girls in historical costumes or fantasy images exemplify the perfect harmony between courage and vulnerability. Each doll is created with great love for details and costume design. Materials such as silk, velvet, natural wool and vegetable fibres are used, which gives the dolls a special sophistication and refinement.
Vilma Goriunoviene's work carries a hidden message for all of us: "Be open to the world, dare and follow your dreams!". The dream of every girl to be brave and courageous, but at the same time fragile and vulnerable, is embodied in her dolls. These creations are not only pleasing to the eye, but also inspire courageous deeds and the desire for self-expression.
Vilma Goriunoviene's story is a story about the importance of following your heart and not being afraid to return to your roots. Her dolls are not just toys, they carry deep meaning and inspiration. Vilma Goriunoviene has managed to convey in her work all the love and passion she feels for her work.
