When love and craftsmanship unite, masterpieces are born.
Today we will talk about the author who creates porcelain masterpieces.
A girl from Siberia, Marina Bychkova, in love with dolls since early childhood, became the creator of articulated porcelain maidens, the founder of the world famous brand Enchanted doll.
Marina was born in Russia, in the city of Novokuznetsk, in 1982. And in her own words, she is proud of her Russian origin.
The family moved to Canada when Marina was still a teenager. “Vancouver has become a second home for her. According to the old legends of the family, the Bychkov family comes from the younger branch of the Grand Duke Vladimir Monomakh, and if this is true, then Marina is a real princess. The family coat of arms has been preserved. "
The artist is Russian in spirit, to the core. This can be traced in the unique images created by her, subtly echoing with her favorite Russian artists - Vasnetsov, Vrubel. Elegantly embroidered dresses, kokoshniks, corsets, studded with gemstones resemble outfits from Russian folk tales.
Living in Canada, Marina did not forget about her love for dolls. At the age of 19 she entered the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and, in 2006, became a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
The author creates beautiful dolls. Their bodies are so anatomically designed that they seem to be alive.
The artist paints each doll with Chinese non-firing paints. The painting is not erased and does not lose color, it binds to porcelain at the molecular level. By the way, models of dolls with tattooed skin not only seem to be such (like many other masters painted under "tattoos"), but also, technologically, are such.
In 2016, a series of books by Marissa Mayer "Lunar Chronicles" was published, in Swedish, with photographs of Marina Bychkova's dolls on the cover.
In 2012-2013, the Enchanted Doll was photographed for Vogue magazine.
Marina Bychkova's dolls shock many, frighten others, but most people admire and make them consider endlessly. They are the admiration and passion of many collectors. The characters are contradictory in many ways, but infinitely beautiful.
Without stopping to create porcelain pieces, Marina launched her Resin Line - copies of porcelain dolls with minor changes, cast from French polyurethane.
The artist embodies in delicate porcelain dolls his fantasies, love of myths, fairy tales, festive national costumes of many countries of the world.
Most of Marina Bychkova's dolls are gentle and quivering Virgins.
According to the author himself, love for dolls brought her fame, fame and made her infinitely happy.
